Health and Safety Maritime Container Services strives towards the prevention of illness and injury through intervention, and promotion of safety and wellbeing. The Human Resources Department operates out of the Cooks River Rail site, servicing all MCS’s requirements. Winner of the 2003 NSW Road Transport’s Nancy Pigeon Award, the HR Department handles issues relating to recruitment, staff development, Occupational Health and Safety, return to work program, induction of new employees, industrial relations issues as well as supporting the management team to achieve their goals. Maritime Container Services have established a comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety program, focusing on Industry Best Practice and meeting our legal obligations. Our priority is to contain the human and financial cost of workplace injury and advance the quality of working life. Our OH&S Management System helps us to target incentive and intervention programs intelligently, reduce implementation cost, maximise participation, increase wellness knowledge, and decrease workers compensation costs. In 1999 MCS achieved accreditation under the TruckSafe program. TruckSafe is recognised by the Government as equivalent to ISO 9002, and concentrates on Driver Training, Driver Health, Vehicle Maintenance and Safe Management & Operating Techniques. For customers, TruckSafe provides confidence that contractors have responsible work practices, well maintained vehicles, healthy and trained drivers and management systems to meet their transport needs. Extensive experience and judgement is required to properly and safely repair shipping containers. MCS personnel are specialists with an average of over 12 years of experience in container repair. Employing over 100 people, Maritime Container Services will continue to strive for workplace excellence in health and safety. |
